To begin tracking activity and sending campaign notifications, you’ll need to set up a Tracker. Once created and installed on a website, Intempt will begin tracking visitor behavior.

Creating a Tracker

When you are first Getting Started with Intempt you will be prompted to create a tracker. If you need to create another one, go to the Trackers page and click + New Tracker.

Give your tracker a title (“Tracker” is just fine if you’re only going to have one), a description if you wish, and provide one or more domains you plan to install the tracker on. Subdomains should be listed separately.

Once a tracker is created, simply copy and paste the tracker code we provide into your website’s templating system. (The Developers guide provides more details.)


You can assign multiple domains and subdomains to a single tracker, so there is no need to create several web trackers if you don’t want to. We recommend keeping all of your sites together in a single tracker unless you have a compelling reasons to split them up.

Tracker Analytics

Once a tracker is installed, Intempt begins collecting analytics from your site. The Intempt console provides a lot of this data directly to you.

Trackers Index Page

On the main Trackers page, you’ll see a list of all trackers you have set up. This list also provides a quick overview of recent tracker activity.


The light gray bar chart shows activity over the last 48 hours. In the top right corner are visitor counts over the last six months (or since the date the tracker was created, if less than six months ago). The number on the right (“open eye”) is identified visitors, and the number on the left (“closed eye”) is unidentified visitors.

Individual Tracker Page

From the Trackers page, click the name of the tracker you want to look at, and you’ll see a whole page of analytics charts.

Tracker Overview


At the top of the Tracker Analytics page, you’ll see a brief overview. This displays information about the traffic over the last six months (or since tracker creation). Revenue calculation and orders are based on the trackcharge event.

Below that is an interactive overview showing traffic (bars) and a selected success metric (points and lines) over some period of time. The default period is 24 hours, and the default success metric is conversion rate. (These can be adjusted via the drop down menus.)


In both sets of charts on this page, both the left and right charts show the same periods and metrics. The left part shows unidentified visitors, while the right one shows identified visitors.

Tracker Activity

From the Tracker Overview page, you can click on Activity on the right side of the panel to dive into activity data for this tracker.

At the top of the page is a chart that shows visitors (the solid area) and the selected success metric (nodes and lines).


You can use the menus in the top right to change the success metric and to to toggle between identified, unidentified, and all users.

Below the Activity overview chart there is a collection of calendar-based charts.


There is a chart for each recorded event in the time period. The chart shows a brief overview of the activity pattern for the specific visitor who experienced the event, over the last six months.

You can use this to explore sample activity patterns individually (rather than in the aggregate). Click on Learn more on any event chart to see details on that specific visitor’s journey through your site.


You can use the input at the top of this section to filter the displayed events.
