# How to Create a Metric

# Getting Started

Go to Metrics and select Metrics (opens new window). Follow the directions below to create a metric.

# Timeframe

Select a time period for which you want to calculate the metric.

# Frequency

Choose how the data should be displayed: daily, weekly or monthly. The metric graph will display all the measured values by selected frequency.

# Format

Select by which type of format the metric should be created. The percentage will create a metric with %, the number will allow you to select decimal places (0.xxx), the time will format the metric to seconds(s).

# Metric

Click on "Type" and select what type of metric you want to create. You can find the metric type overview

Click "Add" to add a new row in the metric definition. Every new row will have a letter attached that can be used in the formula builder.

# Formula

Enter the metric letters and operators to calculate the metric. Allowed operators: + - / * () Example: (A+B)/(A-B) Click "Apply" to set the formula to the metric. Finally, click "Save" to create a metric.

# Metric Graph

Once the metric is saved, the graph is displayed to show the metric results.

The graph shows the metric change across a defined period (monthly, weekly, or daily). The line in the graph displays the numeric metric change during the selected timeframe.

The metric graph provides a quick read on any possible errors and helps determine if you have selected your metric’s right components. An unexpected result would mean you need to take a second look at the metric formula.
