Overview
Message snippets are reusable blocks of text designed to save time and ensure consistent communication across your messaging efforts. Whether you're creating Journeys or campaign messages, snippets let you quickly insert frequently used phrases, responses, or dynamic content without having to write them from scratch.
Snippets can include:
Plain text
User/Account attributes
Basic formatting
AI-generated content
In Intempt, there are two types of message snippets:
Standard snippets. Manually written text created and managed by the user.
Smart snippets. Generated using AI. You provide a short prompt, and Intempt generates the snippet content automatically.
Creating a Standard snippet
You can create a Standard snippet from the Journeys section -> Snippets tab, click the "Create snippet" button, and choose "Standard"
Snippet editor
The information below provides an overview of each section in the Snippet editor.
Filter by. Filter users or accounts based on a selected attribute's value, e.g., location, email etc.
Results. Users or accounts that match the specified filter criteria will be displayed under the "Results" dropdown. Select the user or account for the "Attributes" section to appear.
Attributes. A list of all attributes for a selected user or account. Selecting the blue plus icon will insert the variable into the message body.
Snippet body. The main content area where you write the snippet text.
Formatting panel. Allows you to apply bold, italic, underline, and other formatting styles.
Add variable. This opens a modal to add the user's or account variable (like the first name). This is the same action as the plus icon under the "Attributes" section, but does not require filtering, presenting all variables in a single list.
AI content generation. Optional: Use Intempt AI to generate text based on a prompt.
Fallback text. Text that will be shown if a variable fails to load or cannot be resolved.
Creating a Smart snippet
You can create a Standard snippet from the Journeys section -> Snippets tab, click the "Create snippet" button, and choose "Smart"
Snippet editor
The Smart Snippet editor includes the same tools as the Standard editor, with one key difference:
Instead of writing the full text manually, you enter a prompt (a short description of what you want), and Intempt AI generates the snippet content for you.
You can select the snippet length that Intempt AI will generate.
Using snippets inside messages
Once a snippet is created, you can use it in your message templates (e.g., emails).
To insert a snippet:
Open an existing message or create a new one.
Open a text block in the email.
Click the "Add variable" button.
Select Snippets from the dropdown.
Choose the desired snippet — it will be inserted like any other variable.
Snippets behave like dynamic attributes and will be automatically rendered in the final message.
